Yes, I know the title is “The Asian Grandmothers Cookbook” but the recipes don’t have to come just from grandmas!

If you grew up on the tasty goodness of grandma’s, mom’s or aunty’s (or even dad’s) home cooking, please consider sharing a family recipe or two–you’ll play a part in preserving Asian home cooking traditions. I know that oftentimes these recipes are not documented so if you live in Northern California, I’d love to come and cook with you and your family. Regardless, we can still chat over the phone about memories, techniques, ingredients, etc.

But if you do have them written down, I’m looking for recipes that fit into any of the following categories, whether they’re from a grandma, aunt or mom:

  • Soups
  • Appetizers/side dishes/snacks
  • Main dishes
  • One “wok” meals
  • Healing/Comfort food
  • Celebrations
  • Serving Accompaniments
  • Sweets and Drinks

I’d also love to hear the stories behind why these recipes are special and/or favorites and the women behind them.

New on my blog is a monthly column “In the Kitchen with Grandma,” where I will post contributions by you! I am looking for essays about your reflections and/or experience cooking with a beloved family member accompanied by photographs and a recipe .

If you have anything to contribute at all, or have questions and suggestions, do email me directly at pat (AT) ediblewords (DOT) com.

Thank you!
